Practical steps to prepare a strong application, organize your search, and assess an opportunity.

Build a resume that is easy to assess

A useful resume makes your relevant skills and work clear quickly. Tailor its emphasis to the role while keeping every claim accurate.

  • Start with the essentials. Put your name, a professional email address, location, and relevant portfolio links where they are easy to find. Leave out banking details, passwords, and unnecessary identification numbers.
  • Use a specific headline. Describe your role and strongest relevant skills, such as “Backend developer · C# and SQL,” rather than a vague objective.
  • Show your contribution. For each role or project, explain what you did, the tools or process you used, and the result. Add numbers only when you can support them.
  • Match the requirements honestly. Highlight the skills and experience requested in the job description. Do not list a technology you cannot discuss or claim work you did not do.
  • Keep the layout readable. Use clear section headings, consistent dates, short paragraphs or bullets, and selectable text. Check that links work and the exported PDF opens correctly.
  • Review the final file. Check spelling, contact information, dates, and the filename. Upload a PDF no larger than 5 MB to your Dhebe Jobs account.

For a first role, relevant coursework, projects, internships, volunteering, and practical examples can help explain what you can do.

Update profile & resume

Prepare evidence for your interview

Preparation is easier when you connect the employer’s needs with examples from your own work.

  • Understand the role and company. Read the job description again and research the employer’s own information. Prepare questions about the team’s goals, working practices, and expectations for the first few months.
  • Choose a few useful stories. Prepare examples of solving a problem, working with others, learning something quickly, handling feedback, and completing a project. Explain the situation, your responsibility, the action you took, and the outcome.
  • Practice explaining your decisions. For technical or practical exercises, describe your assumptions, constraints, tradeoffs, and how you would test the result. Ask clarifying questions when information is missing.
  • Be clear about what you know. If you have not used a tool or handled a situation, say so and explain how you would approach learning it. Avoid guessing about experience you do not have.
  • Prepare logistics. Confirm the interview time zone, format, contact person, meeting link, and any materials required. Test your microphone and connection for an online interview.
  • Evaluate the opportunity too. Ask about responsibilities, compensation structure, working hours, location requirements, the selection process, and what happens next. Keep a written record of the answers and offer terms.

After the interview, record the main topics, any promised follow-up, and questions that still need an answer. Do not invent a hiring decision in your tracker; update it when you have information.

Recognize warning signs in a job offer

A job listing or verification badge is a starting point for research. It does not guarantee the identity or conduct of everyone involved.

  • Check who is contacting you. Compare the sender’s email domain, company website, and role details. Confirm unexpected messages using a contact route you find independently.
  • Do not pay to secure a job. Requests for an interview fee, recruitment deposit, equipment payment to a private account, gift cards, or transfers to unlock an offer are warning signs.
  • Protect sensitive information. Never give a recruiter your account password, verification link, banking login, card PIN, or one-time code. Share only information needed for a legitimate stage of the hiring process.
  • Question pressure and inconsistencies. Be cautious about immediate offers without an assessment, unexplained urgency, vague responsibilities, unusually high pay without clear requirements, or instructions to avoid normal company channels.
  • Inspect files and links. Do not install unknown remote access software or open unexpected executable files as part of an interview. Check website addresses before entering account details.
  • Keep records and report concerns. Save the job link and relevant messages. Use “Report this job” on its details page, or contact the portal team if you cannot access it.

If you already shared a password, change it through the relevant service using a trusted address. If you sent money or exposed banking details, contact your bank or payment provider promptly through its official support channel.
