Staff Mechanical Failure Analysis Engineer - HDD

Job Description ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for HDD Teardown FA all customers from China. Owning of the mechanical failure analysis process and equipment. Documentation of all observations and conclusions through images, teardown analysis and possible cause of failure. Discussing the FA findings and communicating the next course of analysis. General housekeeping, including maintenance logs and calibration schedule for all lab equipment Ability to interact across all levels of the organization. Provide effective information on tool or process improvements related to FA. Qualifications EDUCATION: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred), Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent EXPERIENCE:  2-5 years of experience in hard disk drive or related industry REQUIRED SKILLS: Strong written and verbal English communication skills Hands-on individual who enjoys lab work and performs analysis using high-power microscopes and precision equipment PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: Basic knowledge of hard disk drive and head/disk interface Familiarity with analytical techniques: Raman, FTIR, SEM, and TOF-SIMS  Familiarity with electrical failure analysis methodology and interpretation of findings Data analytical skills Additional Information Western Digital thrives on the power and potential of diversity.
