OCI_and_Oracle_Solution_Architect

The primary responsibility of this role is to act as the OCI & Oracle Solution Architect on medium-to-large opportunities spanning Oracle Cloud Infrastructure transformation, Oracle enterprise integration, application modernisation, data and AI. The core of the role is the RFI/RFP pursuit cycle and the commercial ownership that surrounds it — qualifying opportunities, governing pipeline and forecast, orchestrating solution and estimation inputs, and carrying the proposal through client approval to award. The ideal candidate will bring a quarter-century of consulting, presales and enterprise architecture experience, and the seniority to hold a client relationship at executive level while simultaneously driving an internal pursuit to deadline. This is a pursuit-facing architecture role: success is measured in the technical credibility of the proposed solution and the commercial quality of what is signed. The successful candidate will combine deep Oracle and OCI solution architecture credibility, business-development instinct, and the judgement to know which opportunities are worth pursuing and which are not. Key Responsibilities Pursuit Leadership, RFI / RFP & Business Development (Primary) • Lead complex RFI, RFP and RFQ pursuits end to end — owning response strategy, win themes, solution messaging, differentiation and the integrity of the submitted proposal. • Support and shape strategic technology-consulting pursuits valued up to and beyond $10M across OCI transformation, Oracle enterprise integration, AI, analytics and custom-application modernisation. • Govern and advance forecast, upside and pipeline opportunities, maintaining commercial discipline and accurate qualification at every stage. • Run bid qualification and make defensible go / no-go recommendations, protecting pursuit capacity from low-probability work. • Collaborate with bid-management, legal, pricing and risk-management functions to construct compliant, competitive responses. • Coordinate proposal and order-document development, client approvals, project-start planning and sales-to-delivery handover. • Lead client-facing orals, solution defence and negotiation support through evaluation to award. Client Engagement & Advisory • Establish and hold trusted advisor relationships with CIO, Chief Architect and business-sponsor stakeholders. • Lead customer discovery and solution-scoping workshops, assessing current IT landscapes and shaping target technology approaches. • Advise enterprise clients on OCI adoption, Oracle Database and Fusion Middleware modernisation, and integration strategy. • Identify and develop growth opportunities within existing accounts; position new offerings into established relationships. • Act as escalation point for client concerns during pursuit and mobilisation, preserving relationship continuity. Solution Scoping, Estimation & Commercial Ownership • Orchestrate solution estimation, commercial inputs and resourcing assumptions with architecture, consulting and delivery functions. • Own deal shaping and commercial construct — pricing models, engagement structure, T&M versus fixed-price positioning, and margin integrity. • Translate client requirements into scoped, costed and deliverable solution approaches with clearly stated assumptions and dependencies. • Ensure proposed solutions are architecturally sound and operationally realistic before commitment. • Support delivery mobilisation and resource alignment to maintain continuity from pursuit through execution. Qualifications Experience • Minimum 18+ years in technology consulting, presales, enterprise architecture or client engagement, including substantial time in a revenue-facing pursuit or business-development role. • Demonstrated ownership of large, complex RFP/RFI pursuits, including response strategy, estimation, commercial construct and client approval. • Track record supporting or owning multi-million-dollar pipeline and forecast, with evidence of qualified-pipeline and win rate outcomes. • Experience leading a delivery portfolio or Centre of Excellence, including team leadership at scale and accountability for annual revenue. • Deep Oracle enterprise integration background, with hands-on architecture heritage in Oracle Fusion Middleware and enterprise Java platforms. • Experience shaping OCI transformation and data-centre-exit programmes, including rehosting and replatforming Oracle E Business Suite, PeopleSoft, Oracle APEX and Agile PLM estates. • Experience operating across geographies with onsite/offshore models and senior client stakeholders in multiple industry verticals. Education • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent discipline; postgraduate qualification advantageous. Equivalent professional experience considered in lieu. Preferred Skills • Pursuit and bid leadership — RFI/RFP response ownership, win-theme development, solution messaging, estimation and proposal authoring. • Client engagement and executive advisory; workshop facilitation, negotiation support and conflict resolution. • Enterprise solution architecture across cloud, integration, API and microservices patterns; TOGAF or equivalent fluency. • Deep Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) architecture — OCI Exadata Database Service, compute, networking, storage, IAM and managed services — with working depth in AWS or Azure for hybrid and multi-cloud design. • Oracle integration stack — Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle Service Bus (OSB), Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), Oracle API Gateway, SOA governance, containerisation and serverless patterns. • Oracle application and data portfolio — Oracle Database (19c and later), Oracle E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft, Oracle APEX, Oracle Agile PLM, Oracle Revenue Management & Billing (ORMB) and Oracle Analytics. • Working command of enterprise AI and Generative AI solution patterns — OCI Generative AI, Oracle AI Data Platform (AIDP), RAG, AI agents, MCP and enterprise AI governance — sufficient to scope, position and price AI engagements credibly. • Commercial acumen: pricing constructs, margin management, risk identification and deal structuring. • Solution accelerators, reference architectures and reusable asset development for Oracle-based offerings. • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability under commercial pressure. • The candidate should have a PE/VC mentality — capital-efficient, outcome-obsessed, intolerant of gold-plating. Bonus Points • Oracle certifications — OCI AI, OCI Multi-Cloud Architect, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect, Oracle Integration Cloud; AWS or Azure architect credentials. • TOGAF certification or equivalent enterprise architecture credential. • Experience using AI tooling to accelerate research, content synthesis and proposal development in live pursuits. • Published white papers, reusable IP assets, or contributions to innovation programmes. • Experience leading large multi-vendor or consortium bids. • Sector depth in banking, insurance, healthcare, manufacturing or retail.
