Job description
Overview
The primary responsibility of this role is to act as the Principal Agentic AI Solution Architect across large and strategic opportunities
for enterprise and mid-market clients. The core of the role is solution architecture and the RFI/RFP pursuit cycle — owning the
technical solution from first qualification through to signed proposal. Clients increasingly require agentic AI capabilities that are
demonstrably safe, auditable, and integrable with incumbent systems — not proofs-of-concept that stall before production.
The ideal candidate will bring two decades of solution architecture experience layered with current, working knowledge of agentic
AI. The role requires the credibility to sit with a client’s Chief Architect and defend a target-state architecture inside a competitive
bid, and the technical depth to judge whether what is being proposed can actually be built.
The successful candidate will bring a Principal Architect mindset, combining solution architecture rigour, multi-cloud depth,
agentic AI fluency, commercial and pricing judgement, and innovation-led thinking to solve complex client challenges and
accelerate business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Architecture, RFI / RFP & Pursuit Leadership (Primary)
• Own the end-to-end technical solution for RFI, RFP and RFQ responses — solution narrative, architecture, assumptions,
dependencies, risks, differentiators and win themes.
• Lead bid qualification: assess fit, shape the technical win strategy, and make a defensible go / no-go recommendation to
pursuit leadership.
• Author and orchestrate all technical sections of proposal documentation, ensuring a single coherent architecture story
across contributing workstreams.
• Design the target-state solution architecture across application, data, integration, infrastructure and security domains —
not AI in isolation.
• Own effort estimation, solution sizing, pricing constructs and commercial defensibility of the proposed architecture.
• Lead client-facing orals, solution defence sessions, technical clarifications and due-diligence responses through evaluation
to award.
• Conduct executive discovery sessions and client workshops to establish As-Is landscape, To-Be ambition, value hypotheses
and pain points.
• Produce solution blueprints, reference architectures, architecture decision records and option assessments that survive
client architecture-board scrutiny.
• Resolve conflicting stakeholder positions and drive consensus on architecture and scope decisions under bid timelines.
• Transition the approved architecture to execution teams, preserving design intent and architectural integrity after award.
Agentic AI Architecture & Design Authority
• Define reference architectures for agentic AI, multi-agent orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation and AI-native
applications across major cloud platforms.
• Act as design authority — reviewing and approving detailed designs, enforcing alignment with enterprise architecture
principles, and holding the non-functional bar.
• Define the evaluation and quality strategy: evaluation methodology, benchmark design and acceptance criteria for agentic
outputs.
• Define guardrails, responsible-AI posture and control frameworks appropriate to regulated and security-sensitive
environments.
• Make and document platform, framework and build-versus-buy decisions, including technology due diligence and product
selection.
• Assess architectural feasibility of agentic approaches to legacy modernisation and application rationalisation across
heterogeneous stacks.
Qualifications
Experience
• Minimum 15+ years in solution architecture, enterprise architecture, software engineering or cloud engineering, with at
least 3 years in Generative AI and agentic AI.
• Demonstrated ownership of the technical solution in competitive RFI / RFP / RFQ pursuits at scale, including estimation,
sizing, pricing input and solution defence.
• Proven solution architecture accountability on large transformation or regulatory programmes.
• Working knowledge of production agentic systems built with frameworks such as Google ADK, LangGraph, LangChain or
CrewAI.
• Deep experience architecting cloud-native, high-volume, customer-facing applications on at least one major cloud platform,
with working depth in a second.
• Experience advising senior client stakeholders across multiple geographies and industry sectors.
• Track record translating ambiguous business requirements into architecturally significant functional and non-functional
designs.
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent discipline; equivalent professional experience considered
in lieu.
Preferred Skills
• Solution architecture and bid/pursuit leadership — RFI, RFP and RFQ response ownership, solution sizing, estimation and
proposal authoring.
• Command of GenAI and agentic AI architecture: RAG, vector databases, prompt and context engineering, guardrails, model
evaluation, responsible AI.
• Sufficient technical fluency in Python and modern engineering practice to validate agentic designs and judge feasibility.
• Infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD and DevOps architecture patterns — Terraform, Ansible or equivalent.
• Containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and hybrid/multi-cloud HA, DR, sizing and cost-control design.
• API design and management: REST, OpenAPI/Swagger, versioning, rate limiting, caching, gateway patterns.
• Enterprise architecture frameworks and formal modelling; UML 2.0 artefacts; architecture governance.
• Exceptional stakeholder management, workshop facilitation and conflict resolution at senior client levels.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving capability under commercial pressure.
• The candidate should have a PE/VC mentality — capital-efficient, outcome-obsessed, intolerant of gold-plating.
Bonus Points
• Agentic AI certification (e.g. Google Cloud Generative AI / Agentic AI credentials, AWS Generative AI Specialty, Azure AI
Engineer Associate, or recognised vendor agentic-AI certification).
• TOGAF certification; Google Professional Cloud Architect; Azure Solution Architect; AWS Solution Architect.
• Published thought leadership, patents, or contributions to innovation programmes.
• Experience benchmarking agentic solutions against native platform capabilities (e.g. Vertex AI Agent Builder, Bedrock
Agents).
• Experience leading large multi-vendor or consortium bids.
